The Baptist Church in Innsbruck is rooted in a students’ Bible study group as part of the Austrian Student Mission ÖSM. With the help of the Baptist Church in Salzburg, our church was founded in 1977 by 10 young people. Within a year, it grew to have 20-25 visitors and consisted mainly of students. Today, we are a diverse community of students and families, singles and seniors from different countries and cultures, whose lives are centred on Jesus Christ.
Since 2002, we have been based at novum, an event centre in Neuarzl, where our church services and other events take place. From 1978 to 1989, Peter Torskyi served as pastor of the congregation, and from 1992 to 2001, Andrew Page served as pastor. Since 2007, Daniel Kistenich has been pastor of the Baptist Church in Innsbruck. As a congregation, we belong to the Free Churches in Austria.
For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them [Matthew 18:20].
